Artist Statement
My work, though it may seem trivial, carries with it an energy which I strive to put forth. I bring my hopeful attitude for living and an appreciation of what it means to be human into my artworks. I see beauty in the extravagance of nature’s creation, but also in the most mundane things. Before creating each piece, I imagine what my place is in this world, what makes me happy and interests me, and what creativity I wish to bring forth. My pieces may not be world changing, but they contain pieces of my heart and hours of my time.
As my artistic ability has developed, I have learned to use color and movement to convey an emotion. My artwork is unique because it captures my personality and my beliefs. My sustained investigation portrays my view of the human condition. It is a representation of how I view human interaction with the self, and with nature in solitude. My work excites me because it is constantly evolving with me as I change and each piece contains an aspect of who I am at a certain point in time. My music, my wandering thoughts, my excitement, my frustrations, and my ideas are forever trapped in the hours I spend working on a piece. To others, I hope they can see my art to reflect on their own humanity, and gain an appreciation for little things while joining me in a gratitude of being alive.
